The feelings of perpetual isolation that show up on this album both pierce and comfort in equal measure. Lyrical topics such as sleep, seclusion, and the ocean are gently woven into most of the songs here. Grouper's minimalistic instrumentation and hushed vocals are aesthetically somber, yet manage to thoroughly disarm me of any stress or anxiety that I had been wielding prior to listening to this album.
This is my go-to album to help me fall asleep.
